This is a beautiful older Norwegian Solje brooch of .830 (83% silver content). This traditional brooch features an ornate good central circle from which 6 filagree dangles with golden spoons are draped. Solje means "shiny" or "sunny" in Norwegian and is also the traditional jewelry of Norway. A piece of Solje would be given to young girls and women as gifts at each important milestone of her life and it would also be passed on from one generation of women to another. This piece is marked .830S and has an older style C-Clasp. In fine vintage condition.
